Local leaders are pushing for the state Department of Transportation to make repairs on the dilapidated Ocean Parkway between Church Avenue and Avenue Z.
"You basically need to be an expert driver to literally miss every pothole as you go down Ocean Parkway," says city Councilman David Greenfield.
The DOT says it plans to make $7 million in repairs on the stretch of roadway, but the work isn't expected to be completed until 2017.
In addition to the potholes, DOT data says that there were 64 pedestrian deaths or severe injuries on Ocean Parkway between 2009 and 2013.
The overall renovation project is designed to reduce pedestrian and cyclist accidents, officials say.
