A man convicted in the stabbing deaths of his ex-girlfriend's mother and a dog was sentenced in State Supreme Court in Brooklyn Thursday to 28 years to life.
Authorities say 36-year-old Pierre Carrenard continually harassed Francois MacDaly after she broke up with him. Carrenard called MacDaly at work in August 2005 and threatened her mother. He later went to the mother's East Flatbush home, where he stabbed the woman and then turned on the family's Chihuahua. Authorities say Carrenard slashed another relative in the face when the teen came downstairs.
Carrenard was captured in Florida and extradited to Brooklyn. He was convicted of second-degree murder, aggravated cruelty to animals, second-degree burglary and third-degree assault on August 2, 2006.
