Brooklyn students will no longer be able to access some popular Web sites from school computers.
Although the Department of Education has filtered tens of thousands of Web sites out of school computers for years, the New York Post reports the department began restricting access to some social networking sites this year. Two of those sites include MySpace.com and Sconex.com. Education officials say those two sites are now restricted due to concerns over inappropriate postings and chat groups.
According to the Post, the president of Sconex.com says it is natural that the education department filtered his site out of school computers. He says the site takes reports of inappropriate content from users and school districts very seriously.
