The boat pilot accused in the deadly New York Harbor crash pleaded not guilty on Thursday.

Manuel Hernandez faces charges stemming from the August boat capsizing incident that killed a 5-month-old girl and 27-year-old mother.

The 46-year-old was previously released on bail but was later arrested by immigration authorities.

Hernandez is accused of entering the United States illegally and lying about his citizenship.

Prosecutors say the boat was overcrowded, illegally chartered and Hernandez was not licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard.
