Police are searching for a man and a woman who tricked their way into an apartment and got away with thousands of dollars in jewelry.
According to investigators, a 53-year-old woman was conned by the two suspects, who told her last Friday that they had a winning lottery ticket, but couldn't cash it themselves.
The duo allegedly told the victim that they'd split the winnings with her if she agreed to put up her personal jewelry as collateral. They then drove to her Boreum Hill home where cops say they took about $8,000 worth of jewelry.
Authorities are warning residents not to fall for similar scams. They're urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
