The sanitation company accused of being involved in a Bed-Stuy hit-and-run by witnesses over the weekend is denning its involvement.
Minutes after police responded to the scene on Broadway and Suydam Street, frantic witnesses on the scene recalled seeing a Boro Wide sanitation truck.
Witnesses claimed they saw the truck hit a 47-year-old man, then drive off.
However, in an exclusive interview with News 12, the CEO of Boro-Wide Recycling said that accusation is false—and videos captured on the truck cameras would prove it.
"It was definitely not our truck that hit this individual,” said Thomas Toscano. “Eventually our truck left the scene, but it was after he called the police and after the police had gotten there."
In the video, you can see the truck making a turn when suddenly a body appears on the street in front of it—making no visible movements.
"It's clear he had been hit at that point,” said Toscano. “He drove around the individual that was lying in the street. He actually pulls over and he did a service —-public service in this way, because with the large garbage truck like this he blocks traffic."
Toscano said he was told police are actually in search of a passenger vehicle.
Police have not yet confirmed the exact car model in question.
