Wildfire smoke continues to impact the city! Kick starting the day at unhealthy air pollution levels due to the lingering smoke. The air pattern makes the smoke plume drift south before quickly retreating back north during the late day. This shift will bring temporary relief from the smoke, but folks should continue to take precaution by limiting time outside and resorting to filtered air options, when possible.
The smoke is also triggering an increased severe weather threat for the city tomorrow! There will be multiple rounds of thunderstorms and showers possible tomorrow. The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded our area to a Level 2 Slight Risk for severe weather. The main storm threats include: damaging wind gusts, and flash flooding. We also have a potential for an isolated tornado threat, as well. These storms will likely pack a punch with lightning! Rainfall forecasts estimate rainfall totals over 3" in many spots across the city before the end of day on Saturday. A quickly moving weather system is driving the storms. Fortunately, the weekend isn't a complete washout with drier conditions by Sunday afternoon/evening.
