Bronx Democrats gathered in Grand Concourse to hold a rally promoting early voting.
Voters, politicians and even non-party members were in attendance.
Lewis Goldstein, 79, has been an active member of the Democratic Party for the past 50 years. After casting his ballot on the first day of early voting, he said there was no place he’d rather be than at the event encouraging other Bronx residents to reelect Gov. Kathy Hochul and Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado.
"I don't want to take a chance. I do intend on being here for another 20 years, but hey, I do what I have to do now while I'm still here,” said Goldstein. "We must defeat the right wing."
People like Vinny, a Democrat turned Republican voter, disagree with Goldstein.
"I have literally never voted Republican in my life, and I am voting down ballot Republican this year,” he said.
Vinny believes that leaders of his former party have failed to reduce crime and disagrees with COVID vaccine mandates.
Although people at the event didn’t always agree, all of them want members of their parties to exercise their right to vote during early voting or at the ballot box on Nov. 8.
