Leaders of the Bronx Democratic Party gathered Saturday morning to formally endorse candidates for key city elected positions.
Chairman Carl Heastie joined other elected officials at the Democratic Party Headquarters in the Bronx to throw their support behind current New York City Comptroller William Thompson in his bid for mayor. Heastie and others also endorsed Queens Councilwoman Melinda Katz for city comptroller and Brooklyn Councilman Bill de Blasio for public advocate.
"I just think Thompson has done well amongst people in the Bronx," Heastie says. "He has great relationships with elected officials in the Bronx and I think people will be very happy with trying to make him the next mayor of the city of New York."
The Democratic primaries for city-wide offices will be held Sept. 15 to determine the Democratic nominees for the general election in November.
