Urban farming is growing across city schools, and second-graders at P.S. 157 in the Bronx celebrated their new urban farm lab on Wednesday.
Students planted seeds in the new hydroponic lab, where the plants will be grown without soil and 90% less water.
NY Sunworks, a nonprofit organization, brings urban farming to New York City public schools and offers hands-on learning.
Rep. Ritchie Torres says $800,000 is being put toward the creation of these hydroponic classrooms at 20 schools in the Bronx.
