A Bronx woman says she’s been dealing with rats, leaks and gas issues in her Wakefield apartment for the last few years.
Patricia Montoute is a mother who has lived at 740 East 243rd St. for four years, and says that the problems began when she did not have consistent gas in her apartment for a couple of years and now is dealing with a pest and rodent infestation.
Montoute lives in a studio apartment with her 7-year-old daughter and says the conditions have begun to threaten their safety, adding that roaches have made their ways to every crevice, cabinet and even into her fridge and bed.
Construction is currently happening at her building, and Montoute says that is exacerbating these issues. It has also brought new issues, including leaks in her bathroom ceiling that caused the ceiling to fall and almost strike her daughter.
Back on May 25, Montoute filed court papers to be relocated to a vacant apartment temporarily while fixes are made, and says that this is her only option left.
