A group promoting healthy eating is hosting a cooking workshop to help local families prepare a few nutritious meals.
About a dozen kids turned out for Brooke's Cooks, a group that hosts free workshops named after Brooke Jackman, who died at 23 years old in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The program educates children about healthy eating and literacy. Topics include seasonal cuisine and local foods.
Educators also teach the children how to measure and safely cut ingredients.
The Brooke's Cooks group says it's helped hundreds of New York City kids and families. The group visits different neighborhoods throughout the year.
