The town of Brookhaven showed their appreciation for a 9/11 hero by renaming the street he lived on in his honor.
John Fogarty, a father of three, was a firefighter who died of a 9/11-related illness.
"My dad loved being a fireman and he never wanted to quit," his daughter Jacqueline Mitchell said. "He would have been a fireman until he was 82 years old if he could."
Mitchell says that her father's whole firehouse died on 9/11 and as soon as they opened the expressway to allow first responders into the city, Fogarty went to try to dig through the rubble to find his members.
Fogarty's name and recovered equipment from Ladder 3 Battalion 6 are now part of the 9/11 Museum.
