The state budget meltdown is expected to take aim at cultural institutions such as the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Zoos, botanic gardens and aquariums in the city are going to receive 55 percent less funding in 2009, and Albany is expected to cut them off completely in 2010.
The state says directors of cultural institutions "must do what the state has done - which is to reviews its operations and identify ways to operate at lower costs."
