A car dealership and local elected officials on Thursday helped to provide a Thanksgiving meal for Brooklyn residents in need.

The Plaza Auto Mall teamed up with Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte and Councilmember Farah Louis for their annual Thanksgiving turkey drive. The initiative aims to help families who are battling food insecurity, especially now during the pandemic.

"There's an uptick of the virus right now, and we know that people are going to be forced to kind of stay indoors, quarantine, and we are hoping that, as they stay indoors to quarantine, that they have a good meal, and they stay warm, hoping that this could be a good Thanksgiving year, despite of some of the sadness that we had to the encounter this year," Bichotte said.

The turkey drive was able to provide over 500 turkeys to families in need.
