An emergency preparedness class was given Tuesday at the Brooklyn Central Library for East Flatbush and Bed-Stuy residents.
With hurricane season still in effect for a few more weeks and two-year anniversary of Sandy approaching, organizers say the class is especially important.
The course was sponsored by Neighbor Works America and Freddie Mac and was coordinated by the nonprofit Neighborhood Housing Services of East Flatbush. Organizer Tonya Ores says knowledge of how to respond to disasters is essential, making it easier for residents to recover.
People who attended the class were advised to make a "go kit" filled with medications and a flashlight, along with bottled water, extra batteries and important documents.
