More Brooklyn babies are making it to their first birthday than two years ago, according to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Health officials say the city?s infant mortality rate dropped to six out of every 1,000 births. However, experts warn Brooklyn parents to be vigilant in seeking proper health care. They say some of the borough?s neighborhoods, like Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Brownsville and Bushwick, still have high infant mortality rates.
The Brooklyn neighborhood with the lowest infant mortality rate is Bay Ridge.
