A Brooklyn family says they now have proof that negligence from Coney Island Hospital killed their loved one.
Grisel Soto died at the hospital in February.
Her family says nurses in the Coney Island Hospital emergency room misdiagnosed Soto, saying she was reacting to synthetic marijuana. They gave her sedatives, then she went into cardiac arrest and died.
The autopsy report just released revealed she had meningitis.
Since then, seven top executives left the hospital, and the family filed a $50 million lawsuit against the city.
A spokesperson for the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation released a statement saying in part: "We are committed to patient safety and providing the best possible care and experience for every patient and their family."
