Martial H. Amilcar, 28, a member of the Hyena Crips gang, will serve 30 years behind bars for the teen’s murder and an attempted gunpoint robbery of a pharmacy, the United States Attorney’s Office says.
Samuel Joseph, 15, was fatally shot by Amilcar, also known as “Drippy,” inside his apartment building on Flatbush Avenue in February 2019.
According to court documents, Joseph was shot multiple times in the head and torso, “...in retaliation for an altercation earlier the same day between Amilcar’s brother, also a Hyena Crips gang member, and Joseph’s older brother, a rival gang member.”
Amilcar was indicted for racketeering, alongside seven other suspected Hyena Crips members, for various gang-related crimes.
“A lengthy prison sentence cannot undo the loss this family and this community has suffered but it delivers a powerful message that senseless violence carries serious consequences,” United States Attorney Nocella stated.
