Local lawmakers gathered on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall to call for action in the wake of a weekend crash in Gravesend that killed a mother and two children.

The lawmakers and advocates are supporting a bill that would require the installation of devices in cars of drivers who accumulate 11 or more points on their driving record during a 24-month period or who receive six speed camera or red light camera tickets during a 12-month period.

Police say 32-year-old Miriam Yarimi had a suspended license when she was driving the Audi that struck and killed the three family members. Police sources tell News 12 that Yarimi ran a red light.

New York City data shows that Audi has multiple traffic violations.
