The Brooklyn Mirage was once expected to be one of New York City’s hottest summer venues, but it never reopened.

The Department of Buildings deemed it unsafe on May 1, the same day it was set to welcome guests back.

DOB inspectors found the venue’s stage lacked proper bracing, leaving its roof unstable and not built to withstand wind or seismic activity.

The department also cited issues with sprinklers and lack of bathrooms and accessibility routes.

Just weeks later, Avant Gardner, the Mirage’s parent company, filed for bankruptcy after being forced to cancel or relocate dozens of shows.

DOB Commissioner Jimmy Oddo praised the agency’s work, saying inspectors “did an outstanding job of protecting New Yorkers from entering a structure that was unsafe.”

Avant Gardner has not responded to a request for comment.
