Two Brooklyn natives have released a new book celebrating the rich history of the borough's most northern neighborhood.

Ricardo Gomes and Brian Merlis published Brooklyn's Historic Greenpoint, which chronicles Greenpoint throughout years past to present day, complete with more than 200 photos from all different times.

Readers will be able to see photographs such as the old Meserole Theatre, which is now a pharmacy, and an old bank that's a row of retail stores today.

"We wanted to recapture a lot of things that have been lost and are going to get lost over time if someone doesn't tell the story and document it," said Gomes.

Gomes and Merlis already published a book about East New York. Their next literary work will focus on Brownsville.
