The Campaign Against Hunger joined forces with the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday to bring free turkeys to families struggling to put food on the table this holiday season.
After filling up their bags and baskets with turkey and other holiday ingredients and foods, people got a chance to shoot some hoops with members of the Brooklyn Nets staff, Liberty player Stephanie Dolson, and basketball veteran Albert King.
“We always want to show that the Brooklyn Nets are involved with giving back,” said King.
Despite there being a wait for the recipients, they all were extremely thankful at the opportunity to help bring food and holiday cheer to their families.
“It certainly means a lot because prices are very high,” said Angie, who was picking up food for her family. “A lot of us are unable to bring a whole dinner to our families for the holidays.”
The Campaign Against Hunger says it helps to feed more than 12,000 families every week, and they helped give out about 800 turkeys and plenty of produce with the Nets.
