Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave, who last week pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges, was indicted Thursday, according the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.
The rapper, whose real name is Roland Collins, was formally charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon for the May 25 shooting at Irving Plaza in Manhattan that left one person dead.
Collins told a judge last week that someone was trying to "assassinate" him, and that he was acting out of self-defense.
According to investigators, Collins also shot himself in the leg during the confrontation inside the venue.
Collins is due back in court June 22.
