As the first big snow storm makes its way to Brooklyn, residents are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Many residents finally made their way to hardware stores across the borough to buy shovels, rock salt, and other winter equipment that went unsold during the unseasonably warm early winter. Hardware store owners say a storm is great news for their suffering business. City officials are also working with Con Edison to prepare for any electricity problems that may occur. Con Ed workers advise Brooklyn residents to stay away from downed wires and to alert officials immediately. The weather is expected to be the worst around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
