Fall has ushered in the flu season. Hundreds of Brooklyn residents lined up to get their annual flu shot Tuesday to fend off the virus.
The Visiting Nurse Association administered the shots as part of the Say Boo To The Flu campaign. Other public hospitals are also offering the vaccine and health checkups at little or no cost.
Doctors recommend everyone get vaccinated yearly since different strains of the virus exist. Experts say the elderly, pregnant and sick are especially at risk. Children ages 6 months to 5 years are also at greater risk. Officials say nearly 100 children die each year from the flu.
