Brooklyn to usher in academic year with new schools
Four new buildings will be part of the Brooklyn schools landscape when classes begin next week.
Officials say the schools will add more than 2,000 new classroom seats in the borough this year. The new schools are part of a capital plan that Mayor Mike Bloomberg has called the largest school-construction effort in the city's history.
The four schools opening in the borough next week are the Adams Street Campus, Transfiguration, Midwood High School Science Annex and Telecom High School Addition.
The mayor says he hopes the schools will help alleviate overcrowding in city schools.
