Brooklyn vintage shop offers one-of-a kind items
Vintage shops are the best places to begin your search for one-of-a-kind items.
Mike Kollman, owner of I like Mike’s, has been restoring mid-century items for the past 11 years and has hundreds of antique items from all over the world.
The outside of his Brooklyn studio is a beautiful historic brownstone that has a speakeasy feel inside.
“I find satisfaction in that, like fixing things that wouldn’t quite get fixed by most other people. But once they’re fixed and working again, they are very desirable,” Kollman shares.
He fixes anything from lightning to clocks and furniture that you can’t let go off and are in need of a new life.
“Having a few choice items in your living space, whatever your living space, is how you connect with other human beings, it's the conversation,” Kollman says.
Prices vary depending on what you're looking for, but Kollman says everything he sells comes with a story to tell, which makes it even more valuable.
The shop only opens up on Saturdays between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. The studio is located between Lewis and Marcus Garvey avenues.
