A Brooklyn woman is celebrating Black History Month with a community photo shoot.
Participants of the photo shoot dressed in all black and African tribal clothing to celebrate their heritage and pay homage to their ancestors.
Attendees had the opportunity to take photos, while the DJ set the tone for the evening and food was served.
The event was spearheaded by Johanna 'Melanin' Callejos, an event content creator who spearheads events around topics she believes should be highlighted, from infertility to domestic violence, weight loss, entrepreneurship and much more.
Callejos tells News 12 she hopes the event brings positivity, and that women will walk away with more than a photo.
She adds that the pictures captured Sunday will be shared on participants social media as a way of celebrating Black History Month with their social networks.
