A Brooklyn woman was honored by the city for her leadership in a project that commemorates the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with flowers.
Maria Roca received an award for her service in the Daffodil Project. The volunteer beautification program was founded in 2001 and has since planted more than four million bulbs in hopes of raising the spirits of New Yorkers.
Roca says the flowers keep the memories alive for those who died that day.
