A Brooklyn woman turned to News 12 for answers after she says her a cleaning service left her apartment trashed.
Genevieve Snow says she hired a cleaning service that she has used for years.  She says she returned home to find broken furniture, a woman passed out on the floor and missing alcohol.
Snow says she is out $400 that she put toward sprucing up her home.
But the owner of Joanna Cleaning Service, who Snow hired, says the situation is all a big mistake and that she is also a victim.
Joanna Sokolowska claims she knows the person who was passed out in Snow's apartment. She says it is a woman also named Joanna who worked for her years ago, but was let go for beign unreliable.
Sokolowska believes this woman set up her own company with a similar name, "Joanna's Cleaning" to poach her clients.
Lawyer Adam Kalish says a situation like this are all the more reason to be skeptical about what you see online.
Kalish offered several tips for hiring these services, including crosschecking companies to get a sense of their online presence and business filings.
