Today is a special day for dozens of EMTs who are graduating from the academy, but the spotlight is on one person following in his sister's footsteps.
Today 173 new EMTs graduated, and among them is Joel Rosado, the brother of fallen EMT Yadira Arroyo, who is joining the station his sister once served in the Bronx.
The ceremony featured a standing ovation in memory of Arroyo who was killed in the line of duty two years ago.
Among the EMTs graduating, others were promoted to lieutenants and deputy chiefs.
The chief of EMS stated this graduating class is one of the largest he's seen.
Other speakers thanked the new EMTs for offering their life for those most in need. Rosado tells News 12 he has committed to do exactly that, hoping to make his sister proud. Arroyo was a 14-year FDNY veteran.
Rosado was lost for words telling News 12 if his sister were here he would tell her he loves her.
