A Brooklyn business is creating glass works of art the way it was done thousands of years ago.
Brooklyn Glass has been in Gowanus since the early 1990s. It's inspiration for glassmaking, however, goes back to ancient Egypt.
The process starts with a steel pipe dipped into a furnace full of melting glass. It's then moved to a second furnace for heating and shaping, rolled in shards of colored glass and blown, with a couple of those steps repeated.
The studio offers classes and workshops for aspiring glass blowers.
