A five-alarm fire ripped through three factory buildings in Sunset Park on Wednesday, drawing more than 250 firefighters to the scene.

Carlos Decosio, chief supply chain officer at Tacombi Restaurant, described the chaos. “We came down here and the street was flooded with firefighters. It was a little bit of chaos around here. And we didn’t know exactly what was going on,” he said.

FDNY fire marshals said two officials suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. Fire trucks remain at the site as businesses assess the damage.

Decosio said the fire disrupted daily operations.

“Everything’s on here fresh every single day; we couldn’t do that. We couldn’t get deliveries because trucks still couldn’t come through the street,” he said.

Nearby businesses, including Socceroof, are also slowly reopening. Mousa Shenin, a facility worker, said, “There was a lot of smoke. They told us we have to evacuate the place. So, the smoke is really bad up there. As long as everybody’s safe, have a good part, you know?”

FDNY fire marshals continue to monitor the area from a safe distance. Decosio said Tacombi is working through the weekend to make up for lost time.

“We lost all day yesterday and most of the day today, so we’re preparing to start manufacturing and working all throughout the weekend to catch up,” he said.

FDNY authorities told News 12 the site is still considered an emergency situation, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
