A Bronx-born actor and local director have been honored for their roles in shaping local African-American youth. Actor Alimi Ballard and director Gilbert Glenn Brown were handed "Outstanding Alumnus of Mind-Builders" awards. Both men started their careers at Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center, participating in the Positive Youth Troupe. Ballard co-starred on the CBS show "Numbers" and appeared in the movie "Fast Five." Brown is currently artistic director of the center's youth program.
