American Livery Cab says its vehicle that crashed into a home yesterday while exiting the Cross Bronx Expressway was likely speeding.
The driver, Felipe Perez, was injured in the crash at the intersection of the expressway service road and Taylor Avenue.
Residents say that many drivers speed through the area, trying to beat traffic lights. The cab company says it is looking at installing GPS devices in all cabs so it can better dispatch vehicles and reduce the need to speed.
The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) says that three accidents occurred at the intersection between 2006 and 2010. The DOT says it will study the intersection to see if safety improvements can be made.
