Hundreds of wildfires in Canada are impacting the air New Jersey residents are breathing.

Some who went outside on Tuesday afternoon and evening may have noticed a strong smell of smoke and found it difficult to breathe. Others may have noticed that the sun looked like an orange dot in the school.

This is due to the smoke from the Canadian fires.

“I did affect our breathing a little bit,” says Ahmad Harb, of Clifton. “It’s burning my eyes. I could feel it even from the car.”

An air quality alert has been issued for parts of the state due to the conditions. The air is considered "unhealthy for sensitive groups." Those with heart or lung conditions, the elderly and children should reduce their time outdoors, as well as strenuous activity.
