Some Canarsie residents marked the two-year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy with a candlelight vigil at the Canarsie Pier.
Community members and elected officials lit candles along the shoreline, sang songs and recalled how they weathered the storm. Thousands of businesses and homes were damaged during Sandy.
The residents and officials held the vigil in an effort to reflect on the devastation of the storm and also to find ways to help the community to be more resilient.
Rep. Hakeen Jeffries says the community has come a long way.
"We still have a long way to go," he says.
