Restaurants in Canarsie are bringing the heat as Canarsie Restaurant Week is serving up authentic flavors from many different cultures. 

Locals say that the idea of having a week dedicated to supporting Canarsie's cuisine has been a long time coming. 

"It feels great being able to lead the way and make all the restaurants come together," said Calvin Sennon, the owner of TriniJam BK Roti Bar & Grill, one of many participating restaurants. "We are doing a lot of free tastings of jerk, chicken, pepper, shrimp, and the appetizers."

Canarsie Restaurant Week will be up and running through Sept. 17.
