Adolfo Carrion, Jr. is set to head off to Washington, D.C. to work for President Barack Obama, but some say he hasn't yet resigned from his position as Bronx borough president.

Carrion starts his job as White House Director of Urban Affairs March 2. His office says he plans to resign as borough president Sunday evening. Election officials say Carrion doesn't have to resign until he starts at his post on Monday.

Once Carrion resigns, Mayor Bloomberg has three days to issue a proclamation and set a date for a special election. In the days leading up to the special election, Deputy Borough President Earl Brown will fill in.
