Police are on the hunt for a man who they say attacked a Mott Haven bodega employee while on the job late Monday night.
Detectives released surveillance video that shows the employee on the customer side of the check-out counter when the suspect walks into the bodega and appears to have taken him by surprise.
Video appears to show the suspect in a white t-shirt and sweatpants walking into the bodega at 11:45 p.m. with his hands in his pockets as if he is just looking around. Once he gets past the employee, he turns around, takes the worker out by the back of his legs, pushes him down before throwing three punches. It then appears that the suspect grab's the victim's cellphone and runs off.
Authorities say the bodega worker refused medical attention, even though he was punched in the head.
Anyone who may have any information is being asked to call police.
