CDC: New COVID subvariant JN.1 dominating the Northeast

There’s a new COVID alert. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says coronavirus subvariant JN.1 is now the fastest-growing strain of the virus.
JN.1 already dominates the northeast where it's estimated to cause about a third of new infections, according to the CDC.
Health officials are suggesting the surge is from Thanksgiving holiday travel and waning immunity.
Less than 20% of adults have received the latest COVID vaccine.
