A nearly 100-year-old grotto in Bushwick is about to be demolished for good, sparking a surge of visitors to the area.
The grotto, which is a special cave-like structure, has remained intact for almost a century while the building behind it changed faces many times. The building has been unoccupied for years but will soon have a new owner.
The Diocese of Brooklyn plans to rent out the building so that it can become a NYC public school.
In the meantime, residents from all over have been stopping by the grotto to grab a piece of stone to preserve their memories.
