This week new changes rolled out to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, better known as FAFSA.
FAFSA helps determine how much federal aid a student can get. The changes to FAFSA were made to make things easier for students.
Cathy Mueller works for Mapping Your Future, a national non-profit organization that helps students and families plan, prepare and pay for college. Mueller says there are a few issues that the U.S. Department of Education has identified that they are working through.
Mueller recommends either waiting until mid-January to see if issues might clear up. Mueller says if you do go ahead and fill it out, if you encounter a problem, pause and come back to it later.
Mapping Your Future also says to check with your school to make sure you are not missing any deadlines.
