The City Council dealt a blow Monday to the mayor's ban on cell phones in schools in Brooklyn and the rest of the city.The City Council voted to override Mayor Bloomberg's ban. One member of the City Council says the current ban is out of step with society and expects there to be overwhelming support to override the ban. The mayor's cell phone ban prohibits students from having cell phones while in school or out of school. The City Council's plan allows students to have cell phones when they are heading to school or returning from school.
