Members of the New York City Council on Wednesday examined the Board of Elections on its performance and what it could do better for next year's elections.
The members also heard several pieces of legislation, including the use of artificial intelligence to change the outcome of elections. They pointed out a local assembly race last January where AI was used to misinform voters.
"Misinformation is a phenomenon and election should not be determined by doctored images or audio we need to ensure safeguards for our democracy,” said Manhattan Councilmember Julie Menin.
Next year Mayor Eric Adams is up for reelection.
