The city has unveiled plans to expand relief efforts for the families of the two officers who were killed while sitting in their patrol car.
The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York has already raised $120,000 in pledges for the loved ones of Officer Rafael Ramos and Officer Wenjian Liu. The two officers were gunned down in Brooklyn on Dec. 20. The gunman then killed himself. The money was raised through the Fallen Heroes Relief Effort and now there are plans to expand that initiative.
There are three tiers in the Fallen Heroes Relief Effort. The first is donating monetary contributions, and the second way to help is to volunteer. The third tier is providing support.
