Developers from all over the city are submitting proposals in order to buy a lot in Coney Island for $1.
The city is selling an acre-and-a-half of land near West 30th Street and Surf Avenue. However, developers must meet strict city requirements in their proposals. The city?s plan is to include a 40,000-square foot community center and affordable housing.
City officials say they want Brooklyn residents who have lived in the area to have a chance to move into the new development. The deadline for the project?s proposal is July 12. Housing officials plan to start construction within the next year.
