Last year's Christmas weekend snowstorm is still costing New York City taxpayers. The city has already paid out more than $1.8 million in claims for the storm, which led to railroad service being shut down for three days. Nearly 1,200 claims were filed and the city was blasted for its poor response to the storm.
The largest settlement went to a man who fell in an icy parking lot that wasn't properly shoveled. He received $150,000.
