This Afternoon

Skies clear out through the afternoon, turning mostly sunny in the Bronx. Highs climb to the upper 80s, but humidity stays manageable and winds stay light, so it should feel like a solid summer day overall. Keep in mind that late tonight, showers and a few thunderstorms become possible, mainly overnight, as a weak front moves through.

Thursday

A few lingering showers are possible in the morning, then another round of showers and thunderstorms could develop in the afternoon. Overall, most of the day stays dry with mostly sunny skies, and highs reach the upper 80s. Any storms that do form should move through quickly. If you're headed to the Yankees' 1:35 pm game at the Stadium, keep an eye on the sky. First pitch should be dry, but the afternoon storm chance overlaps with the middle innings.

Also worth knowing: overnight through Thursday, the nighttime high tide is running a bit higher than usual thanks to an approaching new moon. Low-lying spots along the Bronx shoreline, like around City Island and Orchard Beach, could see some minor splash over, so avoid parking right along the water after dark.

Friday

Friday looks great. Mostly sunny skies and a high in the low 80s make it a comfortable day with much lower humidity than earlier in the week. It's a good day to plan something outdoors.

The Weekend

Saturday is the standout, with sunny skies and a high in the low 80s. Sunday starts off mostly sunny too, but a chance of showers moves in during the afternoon. Rain becomes more likely Sunday night, so outdoor evening plans may need a backup.

Boat and Beach

Waters stay calm enough for boating through the weekend, with no major wind or wave concerns expected. If you're taking the trip down to Coney Island or Rockaway this weekend, the rip current risk is generally low through Thursday, though the same widening tidal swing means it's worth being extra cautious swimming around each afternoon's low tide. Closer to home, City Island's waters stay just as manageable for boating, with light winds expected right through the weekend.
